"Lofty" dents Willows title hopes.

Drummers produced the result of the week in division one when they put a dent in Willows title hopes. Star of the show was Lee ‘Lofty’ Bastow who hit a ‘65’ for Drummers against his dad and uncle’s team, anchor Rob Netherway top scored for Willows with a ‘59’.
In division three The Monarchs hit the highest team score of the week with an impressive 449 on the Prince of Orange alley beating Deltics by ‘55’ pins, Mark Le Huray’s ‘74’ for The Monarchs was the highest individual score of the week, Jacqui House was Deltics top scorer with a ‘62’ which equaled the highest ladies of the week. Sharon Shenton ‘36’!!!. This win saw The Monarchs close the gap on leaders Hookies to two points after Hookies were surprisingly beaten at home by Roamers by 369 pins to 365, George Wilson (Hookies) 57 and Terry Holtom (Roamers) 56 top scoring, Hookies do have a game in hand however.
Jan Sherman of division five side Royals was the other lady to hit a ‘62’ last week as Royals beat Acorns by 375 pins to 35, Royals are now equal with Babbacombe CC ‘B’ who lost to bottom side Dodgers by a single pin on the Cricket club alley, Babbacombe’s last leg of 53 doing the damage, Tom Jessop (Babbacombe) 53 and Pete Snell (Dodgers) 48 top scoring.
It is now very tight at the top of division two after the top two teams Sports and Old Ilminsterians met at the Prince of Orange, Old Ilminsterians coming out on top by 389 pins to 373 with Paul Snell and Martin Cuss both hitting ‘52’ for Sports whilst Wally Stephens hit ‘65’ for the winners. Sports and Old Ilminsterians are now equal with ‘22’ points each with Torquay Reds and New Image two points behind, Reds have a game in hand however.
Out ‘N’ Sticks now top division four after beating third placed Taxis by a single pin, they were 26 pins down going into the last leg, but thanks to a final leg of ‘82’which left Taxis needing ‘57’ to win, Taxis anchorman Malcolm Bidder just failing to get the necessary seven to win, Peter Wilson (Taxis) and Mike Ashman (Out ‘N’ Sticks) both hitting ‘62’. Previous leaders Skylarks lost away to Hotshots by 354 pins to 347 on the Torquay Rugby club alley with Hotshots Jan Labdon hitting a vital ‘17’ spare on the last leg, Jan top scoring with 57 whilst Pete Plumridge hit ‘49’ for Skylarks, Pete’s score also included a ‘17’ spare.
The top of the table clash in division five saw Buddies go to the top a point clear of Moxhams after they beat them convincingly by 390 pins to 358 on the Brixham Sea Anglers alley with captain Barry Orchard leading the way for Buddies with a ‘61’, Tony Blee top scored for Moxhams with ‘52’. Sifam Strollers are now joint second with Moxhams after they beat Renegades by 393 pins to 355 with Martin Powell (Strollers) 60 and Ann Wicks and Steve Brooking sharing top score for the losers with ‘48’ each.
In division six Roadrunners closed the gap on leaders Allsorts to four points, with a game in hand, after they beat them by 334 pins to 323 in a low scoring match on the Kirkham main alley, Roadrunners Margaret Burt hit the only spare of the match to top score for the winners with 50 whilst Neil Jones top scored for Allsorts with ‘46’
Division seven leaders Gasheads remain top after they beat Seekers by a single pin, anchor Geoff Brett hitting the seven needed to win despite thinking he needed a nine to win; you will have to treat yourself to a calculator Geoff! Gary Mason top scored for Gasheads with ‘56’ and Pam Brunning ‘54’ for Seekers
In division eight Brixham Legion Evergreens are now joint top with Strikers after they beat third placed The Signers by 348 pins to 339, top scorers were Ken Short and Peter Duffield who both hit ‘48’ for Evergreens and Ashley Ray who hit ‘47’ for The Signers.

TEAM REGISTRATION CARDS HAVE BEEN SENT OUT THIS WEEK AND THEY NEED TO BE RETURNED TO THE LEAGUE SECRETARY BY 31ST MARCH 2010.
